A new partnership offers 25 New York City animal rescues free AI-built websites to help them manage adoptions and focus resources on cats.
Twenty-five New York City animal rescues will receive free, AI-generated websites starting September 15. The program, a partnership between website builder B12 and Bodega Cats of New York, aims to remove a major logistical and financial burden for small organizations.
For volunteer-run cat rescues, daily operations are a constant juggling act. Tasks include coordinating foster homes, managing adoption applications, arranging veterinary transport, and fundraising. A functional website often falls to the bottom of the priority list, despite being key for connecting animals with potential adopters and donors.
A Costly Burden Removed
Building a professional website represents a significant expense that many rescues cannot justify. According to the source, a freelancer-built site for a small nonprofit typically costs between $2,000 and $8,000. Even do-it-yourself options involve ongoing costs for hosting, domains, and maintenance. For groups where every dollar is allocated for veterinary care, food, litter, and emergency supplies, this expense is often out of reach.
The new program eliminates that cost entirely for selected rescues. Nitesh Banta, CEO of B12, stated, "Rescues are running real operations on almost no infrastructure."
How the AI Website Builder Works
The process is designed for simplicity. A rescue provides information about its organization to B12's AI. The AI then generates a working website that the rescue team can customize and update simply by chatting with the AI agent. No coding knowledge is required. The sites can be equipped with tools critical for rescue work.
This centralizes information that is often scattered across social media posts, text messages, and spreadsheets.
Freeing Time for Feline Care
Dan Rimada, founder of Bodega Cats of New York, emphasized the practical impact. "Most of these rescues are four people and a group chat," he said. The website is the thing that never gets done, because there's always something on fire.
A functional website does more than post photos. It helps potential adopters understand an animal's needs and simplifies the application process. It gives volunteers a single place to direct people who want to foster, donate, or help. This efficiency allows rescuers to redirect precious time and money toward direct animal care.
B12 has published a gallery of 16 example rescue websites for organizations to review before applying. NYC-based rescues can submit an application through the B12 website. The company plans to offer the program to more organizations in future rounds beyond the initial 25.
